Utuado Vacation Cottage Rental Description

In a spectacular setting, a charming jungle lodge sits amidst a running river and waterfall in the tranquil lushness of the mountain scenery is a sublime haven for nature lovers, relaxation, refreshing the spirit and for those with wander lust - adventure seekers. It is beautiful in that it's surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty, and the gardens of tropical plants, fruits and flowers, and the wildlife that loves and lives here. On a Paso Fino hacienda, or farm, where we breed champion Paso Fino horses, and rescue horses, the cottage was made for our friends. That it became a vacation rental was something that just happenedand we welcome you as though you were coming home. It is centrally located, lying in in the heart of the island called "La Buena" , with its authentic traditions, ancient Tiano culture and the lovely friendliness and gentleness of the Jivaro people. The studio lodge is furnished with bamboo accents in furniture, with a queen-size orthopedic mattress and fine fresh linens. There is a kitchenette and bathroom with shower. All linens, toweling, and personal amenities are stocked. Just bring a sense of adventure and your toothbrush. The kitchenette is stocked with a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, glassware and dishware, and the pantry with mountain coffees, fruits, cereals, snacks, spices, paper towels and fresh tropical fruits of the season that grow around the cottage and hacienda; pineapple, mango, bananas, oranges, limes and papaya. Sitting on the front porch is a gas BBQ grill and burner with cooking tools. Touches of books, candles, flowers, artwork, and fishing rods for the fresh water bass in the river. Yes, you can catch your dinner. And WIFI is available. Under the bamboo, alongside Great Egret nesting grounds are hammocks for relaxing in fresh mountain air. The nights are most pleasant and refreshing and our guests are pleasantly surprised by the lack of pests in the mountains. On seven acres, the trails behind the cottage lead through caves and rock formations, meander along the river to a swimming hole. Outdoors find lawn chairs and hammocks strung under ancient trees alongside the river - a perfect spot for birdwatching. If you like, adjacent to the cottage property is a hotel restaurant serving breakfast, cocktails and dinner, and there are many roadside eateries for typical Puerto Rican fare, most inexpensive, and restaurants on Dos Bocas and Caonillas Lake offer dining and cocktails on weekends, which are accessible by water taxis at the lake. Some things to do besides relaxing! Local adventures and activities run the gamut from adrenaline pumping to intellectual - like the Arecibo Observatory, run by Stanford University and the interesting Taino museum, Jayuya in the shape of a Taino diety. Batey Zipline Adventures offers an extremely fun and safe adult playground with zip lines, caving, rappelling, boat tours and river canyon tubing. Run by a responsible, young Puerto Rican organic community, they have a five star rating on TripAdvisor for their tours, and they extend a 10% discount for our guests. Kayaking on the lake. A mile up the road lies Caonillas Lake, a man made reservoir, open for kayaking, run by the restaurant there. The Rio Camuy Underground Cave is magnificence - the second largest underground cave system in the world, where skyscrapers can get lost! they offer daily tours, except Monday and Tuesday. It ought not to be missed as it's truly one of the natural wonders of the world. For hikers, the Guanica Dry Forest is of particular interest, offering its unique vegetation found no where else in the world and finish up the hike with a dip in the crystal clear azure Caribbean Sea. Toro Negro Preserve has breathtaking waterfalls and several super trails with great vistas. One of our favorites is the centuries old Spanish Hacienda San Pedro Coffee plantation in Jayuya. It has a restaurant, tasting shop for their world-class coffees and museum. What makes this so special is
